Castle Combe is a village and civil parish in Wiltshire, widely celebrated as the “Prettiest Village in England”. Its fame stems from its perfectly preserved medieval appearance, its lack of modern structures and TV aerials, and its popularity as a filming location for major movies like War Horse, Stardust, and the original Dr.Dolittle. No new homes have been built since the 1600s. The streets are lined with honey-colored Cotswold stone cottages, a 14th-century Market Cross, and a historic 13th-century church.
The village is around 5 miles north-west of Chippenham and 10 miles north-east of Bath. At the 2021 census, the parish had a population of 356. Castle Combe is within the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is a popular tourist attraction.
