The LNER Class A4 Pacific No. 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley holds the post-war speed record (112mph) for steam locomotives on British Railways. It was released to traffic on 30 October 1937.The locomotive was withdrawn from service in 1966 and purchased for preservation the same year; it is one of six A4s that have been preserved. In 1996 the locomotive was moved to the North Yorks Moors Railway and is now based there.
